• Straight out of sci-fi, a suspended skyway connects the city’s most futuristic structures• At dusk, 170-foot tall supertrees illuminate from the inside, like nothing you’ve ever seen• Water tunnels for kids, garden conservatories for adults, and stunning waterfalls• Have a glass of bubbly as the sun sets and enjoy the city’s best Thai street foodThe surfboard-topped triple towers of Moshe Safdie’s Marina Bay Sands form the mise-en-scène for Singapore’s newest playground, which looks like something invented for a sci-fi movie set. Take the Lions Bridge, which extends from the fourth floor to the even-more-futuristic Gardens by the Bay. The bridge crosses into a grove of Supertrees, 170-foot-tall structures swathed in plants ; you can hike between them on a suspended skyway, which hovers 70  feet above the ground. We think the Supertrees are best explored at dusk, when the heat subsides a little and the trees light up from within, but if you’re traveling with kids, go during the daytime and bring your bathing suits for a cooldown in the water tunnels and spouting fountains in the excellent Far East Organization Children’s Garden (it’s free, as are the changing rooms). Next up are the spiny, dragon-shaped conservatory domes. The one you want is the Cloud Forest, with its series of cantilevered walkways and a waterfall splashing down from a mist-and-orchid-covered mountain. Finish up with a trip back to the 57th-floor Marina Bay Sands SkyPark observation deck for truly memorable views, or save on the admission charges and have a glass of bubbly at Cé La Vie as the sun sets. If you’re in for dinner, head straight to David Thompson’s new Thai street food joint, Long Chim. Start your experience on Bayfront Avenue on the east bank of Marina Bay. You’ll instantly recognize Marina Bay Sands with it’s surfboard-topped triple towers. Walk the Lions Bridge and make your way over to the Gardens by the Bay.
